Cape Verdean musician, singer and composer, born in Cidade da Praia, Santiago Island, Dany Silva is living in Portugal since the early 1960s, where he moved to study. He is one of the pioneers of the so-called Lusophone music and cape verdean music reference. His songs are part of the Portuguese collective imagination and the so called Portuguese diaspora, his influence extends to a whole new generation of musicians. After making part of some yeye groups in college, its only in 1978 that he releases his first single “Feel Good”, but its in 1981 with the top single ““Branco Velho, Tinto e Jeropiga” that makes attention of the general public. In 1986 Dany Silva releases hisfirst LP called “Lua Vagabunda”. He had a huge influence in the portuguese popular culture throughout the 1980´s. He celebrated 40 year career with a sold out concert in Lisbon at Tivoli Theatre, the show was transmitted at the national television with some great figures of the portuguese and african scene as special guests. 2021, after a hiatus of original material, Dany Silva is planning to release a new single.
